Seeking a full trained Waldorf grades teacher with experience teaching across multiple ages/grades. Specifically, we will have 3-7 children ranging in grades from 1st – 4th. Pay and hours are negotiable but school days will be Monday – Thursday only. The location would be out of our home / property (teepee or yurt) in Taos, NM, with dedicated classroom space. We will provide whatever materials and supplies are needed. Additionally, we have a person that knows our children well and can act as an assistant as and when needed.

We are looking for flexible, adventurous person with a pioneering spirit who is interested in living in a beautiful, salt-to-the earth, multicultural community where sustainable living options abound alongside opportunities to immerse oneself in the land of enchantment and all its natural wonders. Taos is rich land of gorges and rivers, wilderness areas, high desert landscape and world-class skiing. The town itself is known to artists around the globe, home to delicious restaurants, colorful farmers markets and a vibrant music scene.

This is an opportunity that, while anchored in Waldorf principles, has a lot of flexibility:

Ideally the teacher would provide main lesson work over 4 half days but we are open to full days as well. We also have a lot of flexibility in the school calendar.
Typically afternoons have included special lesson work with specialty trained Waldorf teachers in the Taos community like violin, handwork, and music but we are open to other special lesson subjects (games, languages, movement, woodwork, etc) if the hired teacher is interested in incorporating those.
Incorporation of locally-relevant resources. Taos has a variety of unique opportunities – 1) cultural (Taos Pueblo is 5 minutes away, most nearby towns still have the original Spanish plazas, etc), 2) natural (mountains, Rio Grande, water channels dating back to Spanish rule, caves, unique geology, skiing, hiking, etc), and 3) farming (we have llamas, mini horses, goats, chickens, and Angora rabbits at our house and know other local farmers).
We are an active family and love our kids to use the outside world as a part of their classroom. Taos has 310+ sunny days so you can be outside year round.
Please contact laurie.m.good@gmail.com if interested. We look forward to hearing from you.
