General Function:

21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) is a federally funded after school/extended day program. The grant funds academic support along with homework assistance as well as artistic and cultural enrichment opportunities for students. Students in high poverty schools are provided support especially in math, reading and science. Supervision will be provided by the District Program Director.

Qualified candidates must be willing to work with the families of the students in 14 elementary and middle schools enrolled in the CCLC program. Works with the Site Coordinator to develop family training sessions, generate a parental involvement calendar, help gather site data, help develop a family friendly space for programming and community information, and recruit parents as volunteers and coordinate school events that occur at the site.


Must have high school diploma or GED. Experience in developing and implementing family training

programs recommended. Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with students and their families. Basic computer skills (MS Office/web based applications) are required. Ability to speak Spanish is required.

Specific Duties:

* Communicate to families about the program and be willing to assist in student registration, including handling of parent questions and concerns.

* Assist the Site Coordinators in contacting the families of students who are enrolled but are not attending the program to insure grant attendance goals are met.

* Work with Site Coordinators to gather information to produce a monthly newsletter to be distributed to all participating schools. The newsletter will include a calendar of events for parent education.

* Develop a minimum of two adult education sessions each semester that may include: internet safety, computer classes, support in raising grandchildren, physical fitness for adults, and classes in health, diet, cooking and nutrition.

* Plan two parent nights where students can present and share with their parents the projects they have completed.
